Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about our quoting process, services, products, and support.

What is your typical project timeline from design to installation?

+
  • Project timelines vary depending on the complexity and scope of the work. Initial design drawings typically range from a couple of days for motor starter or lighting control panels, to a few weeks for entire water treatment plants with numerous control panels. We are proud to be recognized as one of the few process control and automation companies capable of turning around initial design drawings so rapidly.
  • We take care to select parts that minimize lead times and actively track all ongoing orders to prevent delays. When delays do arise, we work closely with vendors and customers to identify acceptable equivalent alternatives and keep the project on schedule. Standard lead times for parts are approximately four weeks.
  • Our team begins building control panels as soon as parts start to arrive. Build times range from a single day for simple panels to a few weeks for large, complex, and densely populated enclosures.
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) is typically completed within a day of the panels being built, after which the panel is ready to be shipped out for installation.

What standard manufacturers and products do you use in your control panels?

+
  • We have experience with a wide range of manufacturers and their product lines.
  • Unless a customer has specific requirements, we exclusively use the most robust and reliable products from reputable manufacturers such as ABB, Allen-Bradley, Eaton, Schneider, and Siemens.

How do you ensure that the control panels you make are intuitive to use?

+
  • We provide as-built drawings, clear control panel labeling, and HMI screens designed to be intuitive and user-friendly - even for the most non-technical operators.
  • We routinely supply a recommended spare parts list for every project, identifying items that may require periodic replacement or renewal, such as fuses. This ensures customers always know what to keep on hand, minimizing downtime in the event of a component malfunction or operator error.

Do I need CSA-approved panels?

+
  • In many applications, CSA-approved panels are required or strongly preferred to meet code, safety, and inspection requirements. Indus Automation builds CSA-certified control panels and can help determine the right certification path for your project based on the application, site requirements, and jurisdiction.

Can you work to upgrade a legacy system?

+
  • Yes. Legacy system upgrades are one of our core services, and we regularly help customers modernize older control systems while keeping existing equipment where it still makes sense.
  • We can assist with control panel replacement, PLC/HMI updates, SCADA integration, and other improvements that bring the system up to current standards.

Are the programs password protected and available to the client?

+
  • Yes. We can provide secure, password-protected programs as part of the project, and we work with customers to determine the level of access they need.
  • Our goal is to protect the integrity of the system while still ensuring the client has the documentation and access appropriate for long-term operation and support.

Do you offer 24-hour emergency service?

+
  • Yes, Indus Automation supports customers with ongoing troubleshooting and maintenance, and emergency response can be arranged depending on the situation.
  • If you have an urgent issue, contact us right away and we will do our best to help restore operation as quickly as possible.
